Gerald Urbach has achieved an AV® rating, the highest rating for legal ability awarded by Martindale-Hubbell.  He came to Dallas after spending a year (1968-1969) as briefing clerk to Justice Claude Clayton on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  He practiced with the firm of Geary, Stahl and Spencer located in downtown Dallas from 1969-1992.  He joined Hiersche, Hayward , Drakeley & Urbach, P.C., in 1994.  Over a course of almost forty years, he has developed a practice in commercial litigation and business bankruptcy with an emphasis on business reorganizations and creditor issues being equally at home in state and federal courts, bankruptcy courts and arbitrations.  Although he has a unique specialty in litigating disputes within the hospitality industry, particularly as to web-based bookings and hotel management services, he has litigated a wide variety of business disputes in all courts as well as litigating virtually every kind of bankruptcy issue for both debtors and creditors.  Examples of business disputes litigated include securities claims, construction disputes, employment disputes, non-competition agreements and unfair business practices, purchase and sale of businesses, copyright and trademark infringement, disputes among partners in business dissolutions as well as many debtor-creditor disputes.
