James Drakeley has more than thirty-five years of experience in prosecuting and defending a broad range of business-related litigation matters, including disputes over complex contracts, covenants-not-to-compete, theft of trade secrets, commercial leases, commercial insurance policies, shareholder and partnership disputes, and fiduciary duty litigation. Jim also provides advice and counsel to both executives and employers on a variety of employment issues, including a presentation he offers to c-level executives and employees entitled Executive Issues and Concerns.
Jim has a reputation for excellence both in and out of the courtroom. He has prosecuted and defended high stakes lawsuits for his clients and has successfully obtained favorable verdicts. Jim recognizes the importance of zealously pursuing the client’s objectives and works closely with his clients in developing strategic solutions to help successfully resolve their disputes. Jim’s clients include individuals, corporations, entrepreneurs, executives, and sports figures.
Jim has been at the firm since its inception in 1980, shortly after graduating from SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University in 1975, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and belongs to both the Litigation section and the Labor and Employment section. He is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association.
