In the 438th District Court of Bexar County after an emotionally charged trial, Ken Patterson, Shareholder, won a complete defense verdict for HHDU’s obstetrician clients. The case involved profound injuries to a child delivered via an emergency C-Section on April 10, 2011.
It was alleged that the mother, who experienced significant and repetitive nose bleeds at about 34 weeks of gestation, should have been hospitalized. The obstetricians had referred the patient to an ENT specialist after the patient’s and unborn baby’s well-being had been confirmed.
In trial, the HHDU defense team discredited plaintiffs’ experts and called two world renowned expert witnesses who supported the care provided by HHDU’s physician clients. Following nearly four weeks of trial, the jury was convinced that the care of the obstetricians was appropriate and that they were not responsible for any of the alleged damages sought which totaled more than ten million dollars.
